The first time you use your library card you may check out two items.

Once you have returned your first borrowed items, you may then borrow up to sixty items. The only limit to your borrowing power involves DVDs - only a total of twenty DVDs may be checked out to a patron at any given time.

Books, books on CD, paperbacks, music CDs, and back issues of magazines may be borrowed for two weeks. These items may be renewed three times - the new due date will be two weeks from the day of renewal. Renewals will happen automatically unless the item is on hold for another patron.

DVDs, Hot Reads, Laptop & Hotspot Kits, and Playaway Launchpads may be checked out for two weeks, however we cannot renew these items, nor can we renew a title if another patron has it requested.

There are three ways to renew your items: online from your home computer by logging into your account, at the library, or by calling 540.635.3153.

Please return all items to the library when they are due. Items may be returned to the Circulation Desk or they may be placed in the exterior book drop located off of the parking lot.

If items borrowed from the library are returned late, a fee of $.10 per item, per day will be assessed.

The only exceptions to this rule are inter-library loans (late fee of $.25 per item, per day), and "I Love Virginia" State Park Bags to Go, Laptop & Hotspot Kits, and Playaway Launchpads (late fee of $1.00 per item, per day).

If an item is lost or damaged, you will be charged the replacement cost for the item plus a $5.00 processing fee.

Remember, don't wait to let us know that an item is damaged or lost - until you make the library aware of the problem, fines will continue to accrue on your account if the item in question is overdue. We will work with you any way that we can, but remember that when you signed to receive your library card you assumed responsibility for all items borrowed on your card.

Should your library card be lost or stolen, report this information to the library immediately at 540.635.3153. Staff will place a notice on your account which will prevent anyone from using your missing card.
