In-Person EventCome view our Tiny Art Show during the month of July, featuring tiny masterpieces created by our patrons! If you'd like to be featured, pick up a Tiny Art kit consisting of a 4" x 4" canvas, acrylic paints, and a brush at the Adult Reference desk to take home, paint, and submit for display in our gallery by Saturday, June 29th. Feel free to use other mediums or materials, but make sure to keep your art at or smaller than 4 inches! Please make sure to keep your submissions family-friendly. The theme is Adventure!

She was the first person found in the U.S. with the Northern Ireland genetic mutation that causes gigantism, and she will join us in August to talk about her journey of discovery and writing her book. REGISTRATION REQUIREDWe will meet at the Shenandoah River State Park Picnic Shelter 1. Using Observational and Photography Skills to Document Nature in this session, we will focus on taking photographs of the smaller items in our natural world. We will begin with a review of techniques for taking close-up photographs. Following the review, we will head to the field to practice these techniques by capturing images to complete a nature scavenger hunt. This is a great family event. All types of cameras from smart phones to professional cameras and levels of photographers are welcomed. Note: State Park parking fee rules apply for attending this program. Did you know that one out of every three bites of our food, including fruits, vegetables, chocolate, coffee, nuts, and spices, is created with the help of pollinators? Join us as we review tips for capturing great photographs of our summer pollinators including butterflies, bees, dragonflies, and more. We will begin with a review of when, where, and how to photograph these flying wonders. Following the review, we will head to the field to practice these techniques.
