Summer Reading

Adult Summer Reading

June 4th - August 12th

Join us for a fun-filled summer of books, programs and prizes designed to keep "grown-ups" reading, learning and playing all summer long. Register for the program online using the link below, or sign up in person at the Adult Reference Desk.

Every book you read will give you an entry in the weekly prize package drawing. Winners will have their choice of 10 unique prize packages.

Going away for the summer? You can still participate! Just record the books you read online. You can also download free eBooks, magazines, videos and music from one of our online resources.

This program was made possible through the generous donation and support of the Friends of Samuels Library. Thank you, FOSL!

Youth Summer Reading

June 4th - August 11th

Reading takes you everywhere! Through reading, one can explore, discover, and experience people, places, and things that one would not normally encounter. Experience the world this summer through the amazing books you read and the programs at Samuels Library.

Come to the library and share your adventures throughout Summer Reading Club. As you journey through this summer, earn prizes and free books for meeting your reading goals each week. Our special programs will take you around the world.

Pre-readers may listen to five books being read to them in order to receive a prize each week, while readers ages 6 - 11 and teens 12 - 19 need to read one book at their level to claim their reward. Something that is different this year is that we are going to require children to read library books for Summer Reading Club, rather than reading their own books.

Use Beanstack to log your books online, earn badges for books read and activities completed. You will also have access to themed guides for researching and enjoying topics of interest, write reviews to share with others, and see what other kids are reading this summer. Follow this link for more information on using Beanstack.

The library will be having a special kick-off day on Monday, June 4th. There will be special prizes for the first one hundred children who sign up for Summer Reading Club that day. Wakefield Country Day School will be providing balloons, and their mascot, Leonidas the owl, will be on hand to greet children. Reptiles Alive! will be presenting a live animal show at 11:00 a.m., and we will have face painting for children from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
