Join Jonathan A. Noyalas, Director of Shenandoah University’s McCormick Civil War Institute, for a presentation on the 1864 Battle of Cool Spring, Virginia as a case study of how the war left a lasting impact on soldiers and civilians. The Battle of Cool Spring occurred when Confederate General Jubal Early retreated back into Virginia after briefly threatening Washington, D.C. Union forces attacked a portion of Early’s command just west of the Shenandoah River and north of Berryville but were pushed back to the east side of the river. Though a small battle, the violence of the fight resonated with its veterans and civilian witnesses for years. Register for this event online.
